Sellers Participate in Amazon UK Black Friday Sale

Amazon is celebrating Black Friday in the UK and invited over a thousand third-party sellers to participate - and they'll offer double the number of deals compared to last year, Amazon UK announced:

Amazon.co.uk is gearing up for its biggest Black Friday deals event ever with the launch of The Black Friday Sale - 12 days of special offers, featuring thousands of deals and millions of pounds worth of savings as customers get an early start on their Christmas shopping.

Great deals will be available from day one of the sale with new deals becoming available as often as every five minutes. More than a thousand Amazon Marketplace sellers will also participate in The Black Friday Sale, offering double the number of deals compared to last year, providing customers with an even larger selection of offers on great gifts for friends and family.

The Black Friday Sale on Amazon.co.uk will run from 00:00 on Monday 14th November until 23:59 on Friday 25th November. Christmas shoppers can take advantage of thousands of deals on a range of must-have products from day one of the sale, but only while stocks last. There will also be thousands of "Lightning Deals" introduced throughout the sale - products available at a discount, in limited quantities, for a short period of time. Amazon Prime members, including customers enjoying a free Amazon Prime 30-day trial, have an exclusive 30-minute early access period to all Lightning Deals.

Selected deals will also be available through Prime Now, Amazon's app that offers ultra-fast delivery to Prime customers. These offers will be available for Prime members in eligible addresses covering more than 30% of the UK population and provide an ideal selection of gifts, gadgets and Christmas treats which can be delivered in under 60 minutes for 6.99 pounds or in a two-hour delivery window of your choice at no extra cost.

Black Friday, which falls on Friday 25th November, has become a highly-anticipated date in the UK shopping calendar. Last year, Amazon.co.uk sold more than 7.4 million items on Black Friday (Friday 27th November), at a rate of 86 items per second.

Small and medium-sized businesses operating on Amazon UK's Marketplace had a record Black Friday in 2015. The number of units dispatched through Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA), a service where Amazon stores, picks, packs and delivers items, was up by more than 70% year on year.

Amazon has been investing heavily in its UK infrastructure throughout 2016 to be ready for what is expected to be its biggest Christmas on record. Amazon is on track to create 3,500 permanent full time jobs this year across its Head Offices, Development Centre, Fulfilment Centres and Customer Service Centre. Amazon opened two new Fulfilment Centres this year, in Manchester and Coalville. The sites have created over 1,500 new permanent jobs from operations managers to engineers, HR and IT roles to teams handling customer orders. Amazon has invested more than £4.6 billion in the UK economy to build and run its UK business since 2010.

"In response to positive customer feedback for Black Friday deals, we are introducing The Black Friday Sale - 12 days of fantastic deals on must-have gifts and products, saving our customers millions of pounds," said Doug Gurr, UK Country Manager, Amazon. "We're also thrilled to have over a thousand small businesses featuring in our Black Friday Sale, broadening the selection for our customers and enabling those businesses to boost their sales in the run up to Christmas."

Hazel Reynolds, Brighton-based founder of Gamely, creators of family-friendly party game Randomise, said: "We're thrilled to be one of hundreds of small businesses benefiting from being part of Amazon's Black Friday Sale and having the chance to grow our sales and exports by reaching millions of customers in the UK and across Europe. Selling on Amazon has been a fantastic way to get the word out there and convey the hilarity of playing Randomise."

Deals available in The Black Friday Sale at Amazon.co.uk will be announced closer to the launch date.
The most popular deals in 2015 included the 7" Fire Tablet, Fire TV Stick, Fire Kids Edition Tablet, Sony Playstation 4 and Xbox One console bundles, Le Creuset cookware, Paco Rabanne fragrances and Star Wars toys.
